Favorite Books for Your LO

Post by Katie on Tue Oct 28, 2008 9:38 pm

Another thing I had been thinking about.....what books does your LO love? Caroline would sit and read books (or be read to) all day, but there are two that she asks for a LOT:

Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? (she call this "Brown Book")
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom

I don't mind either of them too much- they are pretty short and I can kind of skip some things if I'm not in the mood. We also just got Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear? That one is neat, too.

What about you?

Jack seriously reads all of his books equally. He would read all day if I'd let hime and he just pulls them off the shelf, one by one until we've read all of them or I say it's time to leave, eat, etc. I guess I would say his favorite is Goodnight Moon since we read it every night.

Ava loves "Good Morning Good Night", "I Love You Daddy", a book of nursery rhymes we have, and "Pat the Bunny". She absolutely loves books and would also sit and read books or have me read to her all day.

Cash loves books but also gets bored of a lot of them quickly. His favorites are "Goodnight Moon" and a Japanese children's book called "A Poo Poo". He can recite the whole thing in Japanese!

This is a great topic. I am always searching for good books for Cash. Our library's children's collection is so sad!

Alaina's favorites: Goodnight Moon, My Goodnight Book, Good Morning, Goodnight, The Wheels on the Bus, The Story of Jesus, and she really likes all her Priddy books-pics of animals, colors, body parts-very good for learning. She also LOVES flapbooks and will spend ages playing with them. She LOVES books!! I on the other hand need some more because I'm getting so sick of all the same ones!

Truett is similar to Cash and likes to "speed read!" He does however, love Goodnight Moon.

Kate loves books too. Like Jack, she picks a different book to read every night, although she probably favors these:

Dr. Seuss books - Hop on Pop, Fox in Socks, Mr. Brown can Moo, can you?
Brown Bear
The Very Busy Spider
Noah's Ark (the golden book)

Geordie is more in to actively looking for things & reciting in books rather than sitting reading or listening. He has a Thomas book with flaps that he adores and a Baby Einstein one with textures that he has been totally in to since about a year old. Chica Chica ABC and Goodnight Moon are other faves.

Natalie - Ava loves books with flaps and interactive stuff too. The one I mentioned, "Good Morning Good Night", has flaps to open and then you get to feel different textures. There is also one just like it we have called "Who do you love?". They have been consistent favorites since about 6 months.

Alaina has those same 2 books as Ava....it's always a race for me to read the pages before Alaina flips the page-she can't wait to see what's next. Good thing these are mostly memorized now!

Sarah - That is too funny! Kurt and I have them both memorized. We just keep saying the words while Ava is opening the flap. Very Happy

We generally read about 5 quick books a night, but Caiden's favorites are

Dr. Suess. I'll teach my dog lots of words and his Arthur on the farm flap book. Oh and good night baby. I have about 10 books memorized I swear. It's a good thing though becuse he turns the pages weather it's time or not.
