Your favorite movies

Post by Amy on Wed Jun 04, 2008 10:39 pm

Our video store here has a gigantic selection of not-so-new American movies, so I just wanted to get some recommendations! What are your all-time favorite movies? Your favorite '80s movies? Your fave action or horror movie? Your fave movie for kids but that you really secretly love? Anyone?

It's so hard to pick favorites! Here are a few that come to mind right now...

Garden State
Fools Rush In
There's Something About Mary
The Sweetest Thing - not great, just funny. warning - A little 'off color'
City of God
Pretty Woman
Hackers
Home is Where the Heart Is
The Pelican's Brief

Action:
not a huge fan of this category, but I like:
Kill Bill - Vol 1 & 2
Point Break (is this action?)
Pulp Fiction

80's fav's
Dirty Dancing
Breakfast Club
Sixteen Candles
St. Elmos Fire
Can't Buy Me Love

I know there's more - I'll keep thinking too!

Ooh, I LOVE Can't Buy Me Love! Another favorite 80s (90s?) movie for me was Empire Records.

Just because I can, I have to say that I have no favorite movies because I was five-years-old (at the most) in the 80's. Hehehe- ya'll know I'm just messing with you. But FWIW, Michael gave a big "yes" when I asked if Breakfast club or Dirty Dancing where some of his favorites. Smile

Thanks, girls! I've seen all of those except City of God, which is my sister's fave, so I'll have to check that out. It's tricky here--sometimes they rename the movies and completely redo the titles to lure Japanese audiences. For example, we just rented "She's the Man" and it was called "American Peach Pie" and the only thing on the cover was a girl's cleavage in a bikini. "Marie Antoinette" is called "Lover's Prayer". They also seem to take any nude scene in a movie and feature it on the cover. So weird!

Katie--are you saying you've never seen Breakfast Club or Dirty Dancing?!
